On Friday the 7th December, a group of our hard working Adult Community Learning students ran stalls and sold their own hand made Christmas gifts and decorations at the St John’s Christmas Fair. They had an incredibly successful day of sales, selling out all but one of their boxes before 1:30!

At Bath College, the Adult Community Learning programme provides a wide range of courses aimed at those who want to improve their chances of finding work, support their family or live independently. These courses will involve free English and Maths assessments to those who have not already obtained a C or above at GCSE. The courses themselves are led in small groups by supportive and experienced tutors, and will always be fun and engaging!

The group have spent the past few weeks creating beautiful jewellery and Christmas decorations in preparation for the St Johns Christmas Fair, this was held in St Johns Chapel alongside the seasonal Bath Christmas Market, so they were not pushed for custom. The products themselves have been made from wire and beads, and show a creative flair and attention to detail.

During the fair the students manned their own stall, engaging directly with customers and selling their own products. This was great people facing and customer service experience, and each student was professional and friendly. One of the students, Martin stated that the day was ‘Really successful and the group really enjoyed it and did really well’, I think we can agree with Martin, as the group nearly sold all their products!

Heather, another student took her camera along to take photos of the fair and products, Heather was extremely proud of everything the group has created and said ‘I decided to take my camera along to take photos to show how well we did and how good our crafts were.’.

Overall the day was a great success, and we are so glad to see all the hard work our Adult Community Learning students put in pay off. We hope all the students had a good day and we wish them all the best for the future!
